Katrina Delain Empty Katrina Delain

Post by Katrina Delain Sun Mar 22, 2015 10:20 pm

Name: Katrina Delain
Gender: Female
Age: 28
Homeworld: Earth
Allegiance: Titan Expedition, formerly UEG

Physical Description: A hair's breadth under five foot ten inches, and possessed of a lean and athletic build, Katrina is not the most imposing of the Titan Expedition's Officers. However, the gunmetal blues eyes that glare out from beneath her raven dark hair betray the hardness that lies within. Her skin is somewhat pale, a natural result of the lack of natural sunlight aboard the ships of the fleet, and her bearing betrays the years of military training she has endured.

Personality: Driven. That is, perhaps, the word many would pick to describe Katrina. Driven by a need to prove herself to herself and others. To prove that she achieved her position by virtue of her skills rather than the patronage of her father. As a result, she can often seem cold, her attention ever focused on the task at hand. In truth, this is not the case; Katrina cares greatly for those around her, and would be more than willing to risk her own life to save that of another. Yet equally she understands the importance of the Titan Expedition's mission and the trust her father placed upon them. As a result, she is often deeply conflicted though she does her best to conceal this.

Brief Character History:
As the only child of Sebastian Delain, Katrina did not have the most loving of childhoods; her father was ever engrossed in his work even before the birth of the Unified Earth Government, whilst her mother, a prominent academic, was engrossed in her research of the origins of humanity. Still, that is not to say her life was loveless, for though neither parent had much time to spare on their daughter or much inclination to display their affection with grand public displays, they still made great effort to have everything she required.

Sadly, they didn't quite see that what she wanted most was her parents, and young Katrina was heartbroken when, shortly after her eighth birthday, her mother announced that she would be relocating to Luna Dome to assist with the study of the precursor relics. This was compounded by her father's election to Consulship within the UEG shortly after its formation, an appointment that left him with ever less time for his daughter.

Alone in the world, Katrina threw herself into every activity she could think of, partially in the hopes of distracting herself and partially through some half formed adolescent idea that excelling in one activity or another might draw her parents' attention. Alas, this was not the case, but as she grew into her late teens and cast a more mature mind toward her parents' work she began to see the value of it, reluctantly - perhaps even bitterly - accepting that her own needs had to fall behind those of her race. So it was that she selected her own path, one entirely different from those her parents had chosen though still one that would allow her to contribute in her own way.

She thought, perhaps, that her parents would appreciate that, though she never spoke to them of it - she merely enlisted in the UEG military one morning and left.

The years that followed were hard. Truly hard. Conflicts were springing up across the globe, and sedition even lurked within the UEG, but Katrina remained true to her course and quickly began to rise through the ranks of the UEG until, in 2114, she was appointed to the UEG Titan Expedition Flagship, the Herakles as Executive Officer under Admiral Eric Reinhardt. There, she helped to organise the fleet prior to its launch in 2115, and to hold it together as Earth erupted into civil war. Sadly, her efforts were for naught as elements of the fleet turned upon one another, and soon Katrina found herself forced to take command of the Herakles in battle against her onetime comrades as Admiral Reinhardt turned his tactical acumen toward pulling the loyalist elements of the fleet through the firestorm.

Together, they were successful, but not before the fleet suffered horrendous losses and was sundered entirely.

In the aftermath of the battle, Katrina continued to serve as Reinhardt's XO as he shepherded the fleet into the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, though she ever more frequently found her thoughts turning toward the family she had left behind.
